It is with great sadness that we announce that Barry Edgar Fritzke of Swift Current, SK died unexpectedly at home on March 3, 2019 at the age of 58 years.
Barry was born on November 1, 1960 in Saskatoon, SK to Edgar and Bernice Fritzke. He grew up in Saskatoon, and started a 38 year career with SaskTel shortly after graduation. Barry loved hunting and fishing, and being in the great outdoors. He loved watching the sunrise and capturing the beauty of God’s creation with his camera. His love for old vehicles was evident by both his knowledge and collection of them! Barry loved music and played drums and guitar. He also served as a sound technician in his home church for several years.
Barry leaves his three children to mourn: Alison Fritzke of Vancouver, Luke (Desirae) Fritzke, Julia (Neil) Friesen, and their mother Beverly, of Saskatoon. Barry also leaves behind his grandchildren: Lucille Fritzke (20 mo) and expected granddaughter in June, and Zoe (almost three) and Malakiya Friesen (16 mo), who brought him much joy.
He is survived by his five sisters: Glenda (Cal) Mayell, Bonnie (Fred) Lanigan, Shelley Fritzke, Marina (Terry) Mochar, and Wendy (Ian) Mochar and families.
Although he will be missed by all who loved him, there is comfort in knowing he is now at peace.
The Celebration of Life for Barry Fritzke was held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 1:00 pm from Trailview Alliance Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Colin Green officiating. The worship was led by Jason Laverdiere. Special music was brought by Julia Friesen, who sang “I Remember.” Tributes were given by Barry’s children, Alison, Luke, and Julia, and by Terry & Marina Mochar followed by a photo presentation. Doug Cooper, Frank Remple, Arnold Wiebe, Jim Waldenberger, Harvey Lomax, and Harvey Klassen served as Pallbearers.
The Private Family Interment Service was held from the Wymark EMC Cemetery, Chortitz, SK.
In memory of Barry Fritzke, donations made to Rock Solid Refuge would be appreciated by the family.
