Evelyn Yake

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing, at the age of 91, of our dear mother, Evelyn Jean Yake. Evelyn was born in the Neidpath area, and raised in the ‘valley’. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Dupont, in 1952; her second husband, Desmond Yake, in 2011; her brother, Don McLachlan, in 2015; her parents, William & Katherine (Miller) McLachlan; and by her stepmother, Katharine "Tena" (Wiebe) McLachlan.

Evelyn will be deeply missed by her children, Bonnie Dupont, Ronny Dupont, Collette Dupuis, and their respective partners; she was the beloved Grandma of Kathryn Dupont, Dallas Dupont, and Jeffrey Dupont, and Kayla Williamson; and by her great-grandson, Trevor Schwab, who was the apple of her eye. Evelyn was the treasured aunt of Wes McLachlan, her faithful visitor. He and our cousin, Marlene (McLachlan) Andrew, provided strong support to the entire family as Evelyn's health declined.

We would like to thank Cypress House for the loving care given our mother these past three and a half years. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held in Spring, her favourite time of year. Details to follow at a later date.
