Garnet Yake of Cabri, passed away at his residence at the age of 73 years. Garnet was born on March 31, 1945 to Budd and Phyllis Yake and was the oldest of six children. He attended school at Hazlet before leaving to drive truck. Throughout his life, Garnet held many jobs. Farming, ranching, carny, truck driving, welding, mechanic and custom combining were probably only a few. He also resided in several places during his life. To name the ones that we are aware of: Hazlet, Gull Lake, Sceptre, Abbey, Gravelbourg, Lafleche, Abbostford, BC, Rockford, Illinois, ...again, I'm sure these are not even close to the full list. Garnet was a quiet man, a gentle man, a soft spoken man, and a private man. It was easy to get to like Garnet, he had a quick wit, a soft smile, and found it easy to talk to anyone. He always tended to accumulate a small close knit group of friends that were like family to him. Because of this, Garnet will be missed by many. Garnet was predeceased by his parents, Budd and Phyllis; two brothers, Garry and Bill; one sister in law, Sandra Jacobs; both sets of grandparents; and all of his aunts and uncles; as well as some cousins. Garnet is survived by his two biological daughters, Lisa, and Treena; three grandchildren, Kendra, Jessie, and Regan; three great grandchildren, Spencer, Ryder, and Octavia; one brother, Ron; two sisters, Roxy and Stella; two nieces; one nephew; numerous cousins and friends.
