Hilda Weinbender Obituary

Hilda (Sievert) Weinbender, age 93, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Herbert and District Integrated Health Care Facility, Herbert, SK. Hilda was very loved by all who knew her, especially her family, who will always hear her say “I love you more.” Hilda Appolonia (Sievert) Weinbender was born to Otto & Kathrine (Scherle) Sievert of February 28, 1925 in the Earl Grey district, SK. She was the “middle” child of twelve, with five older siblings and six younger siblings. Hilda grew up on the family farm near Earl Grey, where life was hard. However, she and her siblings found their own fun. Hilda enjoyed playing ball, spending time with family, and of course, music.

Hilda met Alex Weinbender and they were married November 10, 1944. Alex & Hilda settled south of Ernfold, SK where they raised three children — Darlene, Harold, and Gordon. Though cooking was not her favorite thing, she was amazing in the kitchen — especially apple pies and ginger snap cookies. Hilda lived in Morse until 2014 and was a very active member of the community, she took pride in her relationships and work with the Flowing Well Church community. Hilda was a very caring grandmother who spent a lot of time with her grandchildren and enjoyed helping them grow.

Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Alex Weinbender; her son-in-law, Bob Patterson; her sisters and their spouses, Alma (Fred) Wilde, Erna (Martin) Wilde, Edith (Robert) Doehl, Grace (Louie) Wilde, Gustie (Boyd) Paysen, and Norie (Calvin) Siebert; her brother, Herman (Irma) Sievert; her brothers-in-law (Sievert side), Irvin Keil and Richard Schmidt; her in-laws (Weinbender side), Annie (Jack) Schuman, Jack Weinbender, Walter Weinbender, Fred Weinbender, Martha Leisle, Ella McQuistin, and Emma Deobald.

Hilda leaves to mourn her daughter, Darlene Patterson; her sons, Harold (Shirley) Weinbender and Gordon (Pat) Weinbender; her grandchildren, Cisco (Lisa) Patterson, Mona Patterson (Mark Darrow), Lona (Corbin) Froshaug, Holly (Darcy) Huyghebaert, Chris Weinbender, Carmen (Trevor) Whitfield, Chandra (Tyler) Broley, and Aaron (Keli) Weinbender; her great-grandchildren, Vicki Patterson, Ken Patterson, Bauer Patterson Cooper Patterson, Dylan Froshaug, Kale Froshaug, Ty Huyghebaert, Tyson Huyghebaert, Emerald Whitfield, Xander Whitfield, Connor Broley, Shaine Weinbender, and Rylee Weinbender; her sisters, Helen Keil, Minnie Schmidt, and Aileen (Don) Hanson; her brother, Noman “Bushy” (Loreen) Sievert; her sisters-in-law, Martha Weinbender, Edith Weinbender, and Molly Weinbender; her brothers-in-law, Bill (Michelle) Weinbender, Alex Leisle, and Bill McQuiston; and by her many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
