Joe Hyde, age 65, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at his home in Swift Current, SK. Joseph “Joe” Edward Hyde was born October 17, 1952 in Wawota, SK — the fifth of seven children born to Harry & Rollande Hyde, he grew up in Alida, SK. From the time he was a small child, he was his father’s shadow, and Harry taught Joe everything he needed to know about working in the oil field. The family moved to Pennant, SK where Joe continued working in the oil field. Joe’s work took him all over the globe, and he received a certificate in geology in Dallas, Texas.
In 1974, he returned from overseas and met and married his wife, Helen. They had three children, Ben, Shawn, and Joseph. In time, six grandchildren arrived, and they were the light of his life. As a child, Joe like to play hockey and baseball. He participated in track and field and held the record for running in the southeast corner of Saskatchewan. He loved to be in nature and often went gopher hunting with his friends and brothers as he child. Joe especially loved to fish, which he passed down to his children, and go boating. Joe & Helen owned many businesses together — a second-hand store, several pool halls, a Dairy Queen-type restaurant, a computer repair shop, a bowling alley, and several stores.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Harry & Rollande Hyde; and by his younger brother, Maurice Hyde. Joe is survived by his wife, Helen; his children, Ben (Michelle) Hyde, Shawn (Crystal) Hyde, and Joseph (Annalee) Hyde; his grandchildren, Katrin, Brandi, Alexander, Payten, Taylor, and Jackson; his siblings, Lucille (Larry) McFayden, Jean (Valerie) Hyde, Geraldine (Edward) Gervais, Gerald Hyde, and Rose-Marie (Archie) Gannon; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
