Joyce Bragg, age 88, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Joyce Lorraine Bragg (nee Camphaug), was born in Fosterton, SK, on November 27, 1930 and too her schooling in Pennant, Cabri and Swift Current. After attending Beatty Collegiate she began her career at the Dominion Research Station (Experimental Farm) in Swift Current, performing bookkeeping and clerical work. She also worked for various private companies and government agencies.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, (Sigrid and Albert); as well as her brothers: Orville, Roy, and Lawrence; her sister, Bernice; brother-in-law, Guy Nelson; and sister-in-law, Lillian (Orville). She is survived by her children: Tammie (Rick) Gamble, Trudee (Terry) Lacher, Tracy (Dan) Sawatzky, and Tyler (Leah); several grandchildren; one great grandchild; as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.
Mom loved sewing clothes for her kids, often dressing the girls alike. She made many costumes for her kids and grandkids for baton and parades. She especially looked forward to coming up with annual Halloween costumes; most of which were very memorable!
Crafting was one of her favorite pass times. She had an idea and use for anything to be made into something new. A popular craft project mom worked on every year was creating beautiful vintage tree skirts for Christmas.
In Mom’s active years, she loved going to dances with friends all around the Swift Current area. Many times, these dances were a part of a local rodeo and sports days. She was a member of the Goodtime Dance club for many years, which included decorating for all of the monthly themed dances.
On Saturday morning you could find mom searching through garage sale merchandise, looking for treasures. She collected spoons, thimbles, crystals, bells and many other treasures.
A small service was held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from the Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The interment service was held at the Pennant Cemetery, Pennant SK following the funeral service with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Joyce Bragg, donations to the Dr. Noble Irwin Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Canadian Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated by the family.
