It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden death of Larry Adam Untereiner, age 78, on Monday, November 18, 2019 in Gull Lake, SK.
Born on July 22, 1941 in Swift Current, SK, Larry made a career with Canada Safeway and worked throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta. After Larry retired, he and Gail (nee Holtby) retired to Gull Lake in 1995.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Annie Untereiner; his sisters, Wilma Christie, Patsy Olson, Heather Giesbrecht; and by his brother, Ronald Untereiner.
He was a loving and devoted husband to Gail; father to Trent (Julie), Teresa (Dave), and Phoenix; grandfather to Larissa, Matraca, Caitlin, Danielle, Gavin, Piper, Meagan, Ben, Grace, Sadie; as well as a great grandfather to Faye and Chloe. Also left to mourn Larry’s passing are his brother, Gerald (Irene); and sisters, Bernice Simmie, and Marlene Hiebert; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Larry loved carving sculptures, woodworking, music, and movies. He had a beautiful tenor voice in which he sang in the Catholic and Ecumenical Choirs. Larry will be remembered for his kindness, community work, and strong work ethic.
As per Larry’s request, cremation has taken place.
The Funeral Mass for Larry Untereiner was held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:00 am from St. Anne Catholic Church, Gull Lake, SK with Rev. Fr. Anthony Padayatty officiating. “In the Garden” and “Peace is Flowing Like a River” were sung by the congregation, with Millie Spagrud serving as pianist and Pam McConwell serving as organist. The readers were Leslie Holtby, Walter Laberge, and Madeline St. Jacques. The tribute was given by Donna Holtby.
Honorary Pallbearers were all those who shared in Larry’s life. A reception was held immediately following the mass from the Gull Lake Elk’s Hall.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Larry Untereiner, donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
