Mertin Anderson Obituary

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of our Dad and Grandpa, Mertin Anderson, age 81, on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. We take comfort in the fact he is now with our Mom, the love of his life, Marilyn, whom he has missed every minute of every day since her passing in 2012.

It was the simple pleasures in life that gave Mert the greatest happiness. His daughters, sons-in-law, and especially his grandchildren, meant the world to him. He was very proud of each and every one of them and loved to hear everything that was going on in their lives. His contagious laugh and sense of humour are a memory we will treasure forever. We will miss his “Goodnight” texts that came every evening without fail and the “Happy Birthday” text he would wait up and send at midnight so that he was the first to send greetings. He loved his family very much.

Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Bevi (Shaun) Herron, Lori (Rod) Dueck, and Kari (Paul) Hackett; and his grandchildren, Teneille and Taylor Herron, Matthew, Justin, Shaelyn, Scott, and Sarah Dueck, Wyatt and Harlow Oesch, Paige (Gilbert) Robertson, Hope, Tyler, Parker, Tanner, Belle, and Charlie Hackett.

The Private Family Funeral Service for Mertin Anderson was held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm from the Swift Current Funeral Home Chapel, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Josiah Boyd officiating. “I Come to the Garden,” “Amazing Grace,” “Fairest Lord Jesus,” and “How Great Thou Art” were sung by the family, with Robert & Barb Klassen serving as musicians. The tribute was given by Matthew Dueck. A photo presentation was given by Taylor Herron. The Private Family Interment Service was held from Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with Mertin’s grandsons, Matthew Dueck, Justin Dueck, Scott Dueck, Tyler Hackett, Parker Hackett, Tanner Hackett and Gilbert Robertson serving as Pallbearers. The Honorary Pallbearers were Mertin’s grandchildren, Paige Robertson, Teneille Herron, Taylor Herron, Hope Hackett, Belle Hackett, Shaelyn Dueck, Charlie Hackett, Sarah Dueck, Wyatt Oesch, and Harlow Oesch.

In memory of Mertin Anderson, donations made to the Church of the Open Bible would be appreciated by the family.

"The family would like to thank Pastor Josiah Boyd for the beautiful service and Robert and Barb Klassen for sharing their musical talents. We would also like to thank Pastor Rob Cochrane, Church of the Open Bible and all the members for their support and prayers during this difficult time. We are very grateful to Dr. Serwadda for the kindness and care she gave to our dad and Grandpa. To Phyllis at the lab, the nurses and the entire staff at the Cypress Reginal Hospital we thank you. Thank you to the Swift Current Funeral Home for making all the arrangements."
