Nanette Bowditch

December 23, 2017

The family of Nanette Bowditch, age 92, are deeply saddened to announce the passing of their Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Gull Lake Special Care Home in Gull Lake, SK. Nanette Leslie Bowditch was born January 12, 1925, the fourth of six children to Eric & Mabel Leslie, in the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia — which was one of her favourite places to visit, and she talked about it right up until her passing. Nova Scotia was never far from her heart.

Nanette served Canada with the Royal Canadian Air Force in World War II. Over the years, Nanette traveled to most parts of Canada, England and the United States. Her favourite trips were to visit her brothers and sisters, particularly John and Richard Leslie, her younger twin brothers. Nanette was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, and aunt. She loved having visits from her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, and spent many hours reading her many cookbooks — her homemade pies and buns were a special treat. She loved sewing, reading, and working in her flower garden. One of her favourite outings was to go and play cards with her friends every Tuesday at the Community Hall in Success. Nanette loved animals, one of her favourite pets was a dog named Blue that she and her husband, Walter, had adopted from the Swift Current SPCA.

Nanette is survived by her children, George (Debbie) Bowditch and Emily (Bryan) Reich; her step daughters, Judy Waddel and Darlene (Bruce) Stewart; her eight grandchildren; her seventeen great-grandchildren; her brothers, John Leslie and Richard Leslie; her sisters-in-law, Jean Bowditch and Elsie Garland; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Nanette was predeceased by her husband, Walter Bowditch; her granddaughter, Tammy Lasante; her parents, Eric & Mabel Leslie; her siblings, Angela Kosh, Jacquelin Leslie, and David Leslie; her sisters-in-law, Stefania Leslie, Melita Medforth, Elsie Bowditch, and Joan Bowditch; and by her brothers-in-law, Edgar Garland, Thomas Bowditch, Charlie Bowditch, Gordon Bowditch, and William Medforth. Our mother, Nanette, will be missed but never forgotten — you will be in our hearts forever.

The Come and Go Tea for Nanette Bowditch of the Success District, was held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm from the Days Inn Banquet room in Swift Current.

For those wishing and in lieu of flowers, donations to the SPCA, STARS Air Ambulance or to the Gull Lake Special Care Centre would be appreciated by the family.
