Robert "Bob" William Heard

It is with great sadness the family of Robert “Bob” Heard, age 87, of Swift Current announce his passing on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Alice, in 2018; his grandson, Kevin; his parents, Bill & Annie; his brother, Cyril; and by his sister, Violet.

Bob leaves to mourn his stepsons, Glen (Colleen) Reynolds, Darrell (Wendy) Reynolds, Brian (Laura ) Reynolds, and Bruce (Diana) Reynolds; his nine grandchildren; his twelve great-grandchildren; his brother, Howard; and by his sister, Lucille.

Robert “Bob” Heard was born February 20, 1932 in the Abbey Hospital, Abbey, SK to Bill & Annie Heard. He attended Roe School until he started working for Albert Braaten Senior. Later, he worked for the Department of Highways doing construction and then for the RM of Miry Creek. Bob spent seven years working for Nels Shiels before buying his own farm — E ½  21-18-21 — in 1965. He was a councillor for the RM of Pittville from 1972-1976.

Bob married Alice White on March 18, 1987. They moved to the acreage outside of Swift Current where they lived until 2000, when they moved into town. Bob enjoyed dances in Hazlet, riding and spending time with his horse, Blue, woodworking, and reading. He and Alice spent hours putting puzzles together and many years at the cabin at Clearwater Lake. After Alice moved to the Palliser and later the Meadows, Bob would visit her faithfully every day, and did so until the time of her passing. Bob continued to live on his own until December 27, 2018 when he moved to Willow Creek Manor. Unfortunately, failing health forced Bob to move to the Meadows. He will be fondly remembered for his puzzle building, which he continued enjoying until the time of his passing.   

The family would like to thank the staff at the Meadows for the wonderful care both Bob & Alice received. 

The Funeral Service for Robert “Bob” Heard was held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 am from the Swift Current Funeral Home Chapel, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Greg Kiel officiating. “Just a Closer Walk with Thee” and “How Great Thou Art” were played for the congregation, with Mary Henderson serving as pianist. The eulogy was read by Rev. Greg Kiel.

The Private Family Interment Service was held from the Cabri Cemetery, Cabri, SK with Glen Reynolds, Darrell Reynolds, Brian Reynolds, Bruce Reynolds, Chris Reynolds, and Brad Reynolds serving as Pallbearers.
