Sheila Potter

On Thursday, May 4, 2017 Sheila Potter, age 69, passed away peacefully at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK. Sheila Anne Potter was born December 4, 1947 to John & Blanche (Baumann) Unrau in Swift Current. After graduating from high school, she was self-employed for most of her life as a cook and was a very hard worker. She owned the restaurant at the Roadway Inn for approximately two years, before moving to Kyle, where she cooked at the Kyle Hotel for ten years. She married Anthony “Tony” Potter on November 4, 1968 in Swift Current. Together they raised five children — Terry, Danny, David, Dawn, and Diana. Her family was her pride and joy, and she loved to spend time with them. Sheila retired in 2011, and life changed for her very quickly from that point on. Tony passed away in 2012, they had been married for 44 years, and her health began to decline. Tony & Sheila loved animals — they had cats, dogs, and birds. She was first in the Palliser before moving to the Meadows, and her children would often bring their dogs along when they came to visit her, which always brought a smile. Sheila’s memory will be cherished by her children, Terry (M.J.), Danny (Nancy), David (Connie), Dawn (Dave), and Diana (Jeff); her grandchildren, Ryaan, Aaryn, Vanessa, Staci (Jason), Robbie (Kelsey), Brady, Jeremy, Randy (Orlena), Alison, Kylene (T.J.), and Jarod (Nicole); her great grandchildren, Kaleeya, Jackson, Sophia, and Laiken; her siblings, Dennis (Barb) Unrau and Cheryl Unrau; her aunt, Anne Hart; her uncle, Garth Baumann; her cousins; and by many nieces and nephews. Sheila was predeceased by her husband, Tony; her parents, John & Blanche Unrau; her step-father, Clifford Paulson; ten of her aunts and uncles; and by several of her cousins. The Celebration of Life Tea for Sheila Potter was held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm at The Meadows Main Community Centre, Swift Current, SK. The eulogy was given by Sheila’s children. A Private Interment Service will be held at a later date.
