Susan Meyer

Susan Meyer, age 92, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK. Susan was born May 1, 1927 to George & Susan (Klassen) Wiebe in Rhineland, SK. Upon completing her grade eight education, she worked in the kitchen of the Swift Current Union Hospital. Susan was baptized on May 9, 1952.

On October 11, 1946 Susan married George Meyer at Peace Lutheran Church in Prairie View, SK. She settled into her life as a homemaker and raising their three children — Mary Lou, Rocky, and George. Her church, Mount Calvary, played a very important role in her life and she was always available to help. Whether it was to clean, bring food, or work in the kitchen, Susan enjoyed pitching in. She especially enjoyed getting together with the church ladies to quilt.

Susan loved to crochet and made afghans for everyone in her family, she also liked to make doilies, and there is the volume to prove it. Susan was also an avid baseball and curling fan. But above all, Susan enjoyed spending time with her family the most.

Susan will be lovingly remembered by her children, Mary Lou (Bryon) Collinson (Swift Current, SK), Rocky (Donna) Meyer (Kindersley, SK), and George (Holly) Meyer (Swift Current, SK); her grandchildren, Wendell (Megan) Collinson, Chelcey Meyer, Miranda (Jamie) Dufault, Rebecca (Tyler) Uzelman, and Randi Lynn Meyer; her seven great-grandchildren; her siblings, Howard (Melena) Wiebe, Kay (Jake) Siemens, and Sarah McCormick; her sister-in-law, Ethel Wiebe; and by her nieces and nephews.

Susan was predeceased by her husband, George Meyer; her granddaughter, Bobbi Lea Collinson; her parents, George & Susan Wiebe; her siblings, George Wiebe, Jake Wiebe, Johnny Wiebe, Marie (Jack) Wall, and a brother in infancy; and by her brother-in-law, Glenn McCormick.

The Funeral Service for Susan Meyer was held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm from St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Linda Hall officiating and Sharon Lang serving as organist. Special music was brought by the Prairie Gospel Quartet. The Scripture (Psalm 121) and Gospel (Matthew 11:27-30) readings were given by Chelcey Meyer. The obituary was read by Chelcey Meyer. The ushers in the church were Ralph & Carol Schmeiss.

The Private Family Interment Service was held from Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, SK with Susan’s nephews, Brian Siemens, Randy McCormick, Kevin Wiebe, Kerry Wiebe, Brad Wiebe, Rene Wall, Clinton Wiebe, and Bill McCormick serving as Pallbearers.
