Tanner Hughes

On Monday, June 5, 2017 Tanner Hughes, age 16, passed away in Swift Current, SK. Tanner James Hughes was born February 6, 2001 to Jay & Alison Hughes in Swift Current. Anything Tanner put his mind to, he did with all he had. From an early age he loved to play games and learned to play chess at age six. He could run like the wind and excelled in school. He would ask his parents incredibly profound questions about anything that interested him, he was a very deep thinker. Anything Tanner did, he did with a quiet and unassuming confidence, grace, and serenity. Tanner touched the heart of everyone around him, and will be deeply missed. Tanner leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, Jay & Alison Hughes; his siblings, Dylan Hughes, Destinee Purves, and Lane (Cheyanne) Purves; his nephew, Emmet; his grandparents, Clarence & Lynda Hughes, and Ron & Deb Klassen; his aunt, Lorie Hughes; his uncle, Dean Klassen; his great-grandparents, Pete Driedger and George & Helen Dyck. Jay & Alison would love for you to share any and all stories, photos, videos, and memories of Tanner with them. The Celebration of Life Service for Tanner Hughes was held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 1:00pm from Bridgeway Community Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating. “You Are My Sunshine” and “Amazing Grace” were sung by the congregation. Nicole Estabrooks and Ryan Lee each brought special music. The tributes were given by Destinee Purves and Grandpa Ron Klassen. A video tribute was given by the SCCHS grade 10 band, several of Tanner’s friends, Grandma Deb Klassen, and of the SCCHS balloon release. A photo tribute was presented before and after the service. The ushers in the church were Reuben Schulz, Brian Shygera, Ralph Aman, and Tracey Barss. The Private Family Interment Service was held from Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current with Jay Hughes, Lane Purves, Erik Lindquist, Ashton Gelowitz, Dylan Hughes, Mike Aman, and Tyler Stephenson serving as Pallbearers.
