Wylie Giesbrecht

Wylie Giesbrecht, age 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Willow Creek Manor, Swift Current, SK.

Wylie leaves to mourn his four children, Patty, Bill, Rhonda, and Donovan; his four stepdaughters, TJ, Shannon, Christine, and Katherin; his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his sisters, Laura, Juverna, and LaVera; his brother, Wayne; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

Wylie was predeceased by his wife, June; and by his sister, Darlene.

Wylie Orville Giesbrecht was born to Dave & Sarah Giesbrecht on June 2, 1943 in Swift Current. In his younger years he had a variety of different jobs, including prison guard at Nordeg, AB and opened his own auto body shop in Barnwell, AB.

He loved camping at Crowsnest Pass and went there every year to watch the “Thunder In the Valley” until it was cancelled. After moving to New Norway, AB Wylie took up gardening and usually got quite a haul at the end of the season. Wylie also loved going quadding with his brother in the mountains and spoke of the “Ketchup mine” quite often. Wylie will be dearly missed. “Always in our hearts.” 

The Graveside Service for Wylie Giesbrecht took place on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 2:00 pm from the Schantzenfeld Cemetery, Schantzenfeld, SK followed by a lunch at the Swift Current Shrine Hut.
