Madeline Yvonne (McLeod) Wood-Eby, age 94, wife of former MLA Everett (E.I.) Wood, and later Mr. Lee Eby, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2019 at the Devonshire Care Centre, Edmonton, Alberta.
Yvonne was born October 17, 1924 to Jack & Vera McLeod in North Battleford. She lived in Saskatchewan and Alberta in her youth, settling in Edmonton. Yvonne received her Bible School diploma from the Eston Bible School, and a Bachelor of Religious Education degree from the Canadian Bible College in Regina.
Yvonne was active in the Pentecostal church her whole life in a variety of ministries. She served as a church organist, a Sunday school teacher, and on the church board. Except for a few years in Regina, Yvonne called Swift Current her home from 1955 to 2010, when she returned to Edmonton to be nearer to family.
Yvonne was predeceased by her first husband, Everett Wood; her second husband, Lee Eby; and by her brother, Ken McLeod.
Yvonne is survived by her sister, Norma McLeod; her son, Duncan Wood; and by her grandchildren, Julia, Matthew, Benjamin, and Madeline.
The Funeral Service for Yvonne Wood-Eby was held on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 2:00 pm from Family Community Church, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Bert Turner and Rev. Ronald Swanson officiating. Mrs. Pat Smith served as soloist, Mrs. Roxanne Funk served as pianist, and Mrs. Sharon Penny served as organist. The eulogy was given by Yvonne’s son, Mr. Duncan Wood. The ushers in the church were Mr. John Parker and Mr. Doug Cleveland.
The Interment Service was held from Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with Mr. Darwin Plewis, Mr. Garry Johnson, Mr. Boyd Lines, Mr. Ardell Tuntland, Mr. Rodney Ljunggren, and Mr. David Wall serving as Pallbearers.
