Alice Redekop, age 87, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at The Meadows - Clover House in Swift Current, SK. Alice Mabel Redekop was born on October 18, 1938 near Borden, SK to Jacob & Agnes Stobbe. She grew up on the family farm and attended King George School in the country, riding/driving the horse and buggy or sleigh to school. She said she loved to play ball and often was the pitcher. She preferred outside work to inside work on the farm. As a young girl, her older sister Anne shared the need of salvation with Alice and her sister Adeline. Alice then accepted Christ as her Saviour and was baptized as a teen. She attended Bethany Bible Institute for 2 years and then went to work in Saskatoon as a house cleaner. Alice decided she wanted to do something different and was thrilled to be accepted to the Nursing Assistant Course at Kelsey Institute. During her practicum in Swift Current, she would go to Herbert on the weekends with Adeline Wiebe and sing in the MB Church choir where she met Ben Redekop. After graduating, she worked in the University Hospital in Saskatoon. Ben appeared at work late one night to pick Alice up, starting their courtship. They were married on June 16, 1962 and ran a mixed farm north of Herbert. They were blessed with 2 children, Darlene and Wesley. They lovingly raised their family, committed to God, worshipping and serving Him faithfully at the Herbert MB Church. Alice read Bible stories and prayed daily with her young children, taught Pioneer Girls Clubs and Sunday School for a number of years as well as being involved in the Ladies Aid and Missions committee. She worked part time in the Herbert Hospital and the Herbert Nursing Home when it did not interfere with her family or the farm. In her later years, she would often meet new people in town, bring them soup or baking, have them in her home, invite them to church or have Bible Study with them. She made many angel food cakes for birthday parties in her home with her lady friends. She loved being with people whether it was her family, friends, or whoever. She loved well. In earlier years, several yearly family trips were often made to Fairmont Hot Springs and then to Creston for fresh fruit at a moment’s notice. Once home, the pie making and
canning would start. Other family vacations included South Dakota, Leaf Rapids, Abbotsford, Montana, and a bus tour to
California. In later years, Alice & Ben would pick up and go to Manitou Beach in Watrous to enjoy the mineral pools there. Some of Mom’s favourite trips with Dad were to Hawaii, the Maritimes, Branson, Ottawa and a cruise to Alaska. Alice & Ben loved their family dearly and spent as much time with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as they could. Their home was always open and they looked forward to family gatherings. They travelled often to Killam where Kevin & Darlene and their family lived, as well as spent time at the Herbert Regional Park with Wes & Kim and their family along with many family birthday parties. Alice’s daily phone calls will be missed by her family. Alice’s unwavering faith and prayer for each member of her family by name right up to her last days was a testimony to them. She prayed daily that she would be “found faithful” as well as for all her family to follow Jesus and someday be with her in heaven with her Lord and Saviour. Left to cherish Alice’s love and memories are her children, Darlene (Kevin) Sorenson and Wesley (Kim) Redekop; her grandchildren, Kristen (Matt) Schmidt, Ryan (Angel) Sorenson, Nerissa (Braydan) Holfeld, Chelsea (Dorian) Siever, Miranda (Dylan) Gerbrandt, and Devon (Kassidy) Redekop; her great-grandchildren, Kaden Schmidt, Lucas Schmidt, Alyssa Holfeld, Cruze Holfeld, Stefan Holfeld, Emmitt Holfeld, Miles Holfeld, Finn Siever, Jedsen Siever, Wren Gerbrandt, and Cooper Gerbrandt; her brother, Ed Stobbe; sister-in-law, Margaret Munro; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Ben Redekop; her granddaughter, Desirae Redekop; her parents, Jake & Agnes Stobbe; her siblings and their spouses, Arnold (Helena) Stobbe, Anne (Henry) Bargen, John Stobbe, Selma Stobbe (sister-in-law), and Adeline (Gilbert) Berg; her parents-in-law, Frank & Tina Redekop; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John (Mary) Redekop, Albert (Henrietta Friesen) Redekop, Jake (Agnes) Redekop, Henry (Anne) Redekop and Corny Redekop; and by several nephews and nieces.
