Archie Loose

It is with great sadness that the family of Archie Loose, age 92, announce his passing on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Meadows, Swift Current, SK. Archie Laverne Loose was born December 4, 1928 at Rush Lake, SK to Jacob & Mary (Beisel) Loose — the first of nine children. He attended Spenst School unil grade six, after which he worked for his dad on the family farm.

Archie married Orlene Sauder on April 17, 1955. They started their first home and the family farm on the SW 20-17-11-W3 northwest of Rush Lake in 1960.

Archie was a hardworking farmer who was known to pull all-nighters — he and mom combining when it was too dry during the day or if rain was in the forecast. He combined his last harvest in 2002. He defined himself by his work and he was a man known for his work ethic. Archie loved to play checkers and especially the game of Ludo, which he enjoyed many times with family, friends, and even his great-grandchildren.

Archie is survived by his wife, Orlene; his daughter, Laurel (Randy) Dyck, and their children, Jennifer (Tyler) Juuti (Margo and Jacob) and Curtis (Chalci) Dyck (Daemon and Millie); his son-in-law, Greg (Michele) Shaw, and their children, Brittany (Leyen) Ruest (Leo, Sam, and Alex) and Duncan (Dylan and Kris Gloeckler); his son, Wade (Sherry) Loose, and their daughter, Emily; his son, Greg Loose, and his children, Shelby and Jaden; his brothers, Marvin (Bev) and Jake (Karen); his sister, Marion (Don) Sauder; his sisters-in-law, Jean, Gwen, Ev, and Margie Loose, and Carol Struck; his brother-in-law, Glen (Lyn) Sauder; and by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Archie was predeceased by his daughter, Wendy Shaw; his great-granddaughter, Charlotte Dyck; his parents, Jacob & Mary Loose; his brothers, Glen, Larry, Ralph, Carl, and Ken; his parents-in-law, Adam & Clara Sauder; and by his brother-in-law, Ole Stuck.

Archie’s family would like to thank the staff at Cypress House and the Meadows for their care and compassion.

The Private Family Funeral Service for Archie Loose was held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the Swift Current Funeral Home Chapel, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Blair Froese officiating. Tributes were given by Archie’s grandchildren.

The Private Interment Service was held from Peace Lutheran Cemetery, Prairie View, SK with Archie’s grandsons serving as Pallbearers.

In memory of Archie Loose, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Alzheimers Association would be appreciated by the family.
