Archie McIver, age 92, passed away peacefully with his wife, Dorothy, by his side on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK.
Archie Dallas McIver was born on November 3, 1929 to Donald & Addie (Gainer) McIver in Cabri, SK. He and his brother, John, grew up on the family farm and were kept busy with the chores and everything that goes with the life of a farm kid. He attended the Westmound School — a small country school that was near his home.
On October 14, 1955 Archie married Dorothy “Dot” Johnston at the First United Church in Swift Current. He continued working on the farm with his dad and brother until the late 1970’s, when they sold the farm and moved to Alberta — first Calgary, and then Medicine Hat. While in Calgary, Archie cut grass at a golf course, an important job which any golfer appreciates the importance of.
In 1983, Archie & Dorothy moved by Swift Current and opened Nutters Bulk Food in the Wheatland Mall. They operated the store until their retirement. In his free time, Archie loved watching baseball and playing golf.
Archie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy McIver; his nephew, Don McIver, and his family, Erin (Cam) Zackowski and their two sons; John (Lanny) McIver and their two sons, Kate (Marc) Haywood and their two sons, and Christopher McIver; his niece, Gail (Fred) Smith; his brother-in-law, Bob Johnston; his nieces and nephews-in-law, Linda (Ken) Pattison, Marilyn (Dave) Williams, Julie Bassen, Melody McGowan, Darlene (Ray) Johnston, Duane Johnston; Carolyn Fulton; Gerry (Amy) Johnston, Bruce Johnston, and Brian (Denise) Johnston; and by his sisters-in-law, Lillian Johnston, Zelma Boyce, Jean Johnston, and their families.
Archie was predeceased by his mother, Addie McIver; his father, Don McIver; his stepmother, Edith McIver; his brother, John (Velma) McIver; his parents-in-law, Andy & Mabel Johnston; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Wilbur (Magdalene) Johnston, Lester (Lucille) Johnston, Leona (Ron) Forbes, Norman Johnston, Gordon Johnston, George Johnston, Marie Johnston; and by his nephews, Ken Johnston, Gary (Carolyn) Johnston, and Greg Johnston.
