Barbara Froese, age 83, passed away on August 18, 2025, at the Meadows in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
Barbara was born on the family homestead at Dunelm, Saskatchewan with the help of a midwife on November 25, 1941. She married Abraham (Abe) Froese in 1961, and they would have celebrated 64 years of marriage on October 8, 2025.
Together, Barb & Abe had 3 sons, Edward, Darcy (Carol), and Ashley (Jennifer).
Barb ran her own successful janitorial business and was also part of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary for 30 years and when she got very busy, she would recruit Abe and the boys to help out. She volunteered her time catering weddings, funerals and other events at the Eagles, and she was always very hardworking and thoughtful of others.
At home, Barb enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, pickling and canning. She would experiment with different recipes her meals were enjoyed by Abe and all of her growing boys. Barb was also very talented with craft work and was always willing to try new things.
Barb and Abe went on some road trips to Sleeping Buffalo and to British Columbia, but one of the most memorable trips was flying to Mississauga, Ontario to attend their niece’s wedding.
When Barb went into care, Abe was by her side every single day for 10 years.
Barb is survived by her loving husband Abe, her sons Edward, Darcy (Carol) and Ashley (Jennifer). Also left to mourn her passing are her brother David Koethler (Michele), brother John Koether, sister Katherina (John) Schlamp, and sister-in-law Mary Wiebe.
Barb was a doting grandmother to Braydon, Kyle, Kelsey, Liam and Ethan, and great-grandchildren, Jep and Jackson.
Barb was predeceased by her parents, in-laws and 3 siblings in infancy.
A private family interment and celebration of life with be held at a later date. In Memory of Barbara, donations made to the Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.
