William “Bill” Wall – July 23, 1935 – October 28, 2023
Bill Wall was a great man with a quick smile, contagious laugh, and a big personality. He will be missed by many. Bill passed away peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 28, 2023 with his family by his side in Swift Current, SK.
William “Bill” Wall was born in Blumenhof, SK on July 23, 1935 to John & Suzanna Wall. He grew up in Blumenhof with his siblings, Ben, Joe, Suzie, George, Mary, Katy, and Anne. He enjoyed playing hockey for the Blumenhof Blackhawks and the Neville Mohawks.
He started dating his future wife, Anne Hildebrandt, in 1955 and they were married on October 4, 1958. They recently celebrated their 65th Anniversary.
As a devoted husband and father, Bill leaves a legacy of love to his children and grandchildren. The grandchildren were always up for an adventure with Grandpa, which may have included driving well before their legal age, driving over Grandma’s flowers, or stealing Grandma’s cinnamon buns while she wasn’t looking. He also had a strong loyalty and love for his extended family that will be missed by many in both the Wall and Hildebrandt families.
Bill purchased some land in the Wymark area in 1959 and started farming. He enjoyed the farming life, especially raising cattle, and loved seeing his family become involved in the farm.
He started his career in sales at R&R Motors in Vanguard, SK and soon realized that connecting with others through sales brought him much enjoyment and satisfaction. His stories of selling, his connection with Rob and Roy, and his interactions with customers were legendary. No one was better at closing a deal than Bill. He continued selling farm equipment and cars for many years.
Bill had a gift of connecting with people. He knew how to have fun and laugh and joke around with others. He was always willing to stop what he was doing to have a visit with those who stopped by the farm.
Bill’s faith in Christ was an important part of his life. He accepted Christ in 1958 through a crusade in Rhineland, SK. He was active in the Christian Fellowship Church in Rhineland as a Sunday school teacher, board member, and chair. He left a legacy of faith and spiritual leadership for his family and church body.
Bill was much loved and will be dearly missed by his wife, Anne Wall; his children, Lyonel & Joan Wall, Marlynn & Brian Heagy, and Jolaine & Dale Stangeland; his grandchildren, Parker Wall, Kyle Wall, Carson Heagy, Rochelle (Heagy) & Mike Rorquist, Carlie (Heagy) & Mac Russell, Kelli Stangeland (fiancé Josh Dueck), Taylor (Stangeland) & Josh Sierens, and Brett Stangeland.
Bill Wall – husband, dad, grandpa, jokester, storyteller, farmer, rancher, salesman, bus driver, hockey player, hockey coach, ball coach, Sunday school teacher, board chairman, and follower of Jesus. “Well done good and faithful servant … enter into the joy of your Lord.” Matthew 25:23
