Cecil Priebe, age 98, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Herbert Integrated Health Facility – Acute Care, Herbert, SK. Cecil Allen Priebe was born on May 5, 1926 in Flowing Well, SK to Peter & Margaret Priebe. Cecil grew up on the family farm helping his father, and also studied to become a carpenter. In the end, his chosen occupation was farming. Cecil fell in love with Alice Penner and they were married on July 21, 1952. This union was blessed with 6 children: Darrel, Arlen, Glenn, Clair, Gail, and Marlys. Together, Cecil & Alice setup a home on a farmstead along the #19 highway, 10 miles North of Hodgeville, SK until 1996 when they moved to Herbert.
Family was very important to Cecil, and he tried to teach them the importance of following God. As a family they went to church every Sunday, and on Friday evenings were family fun time of playing together, after which he encouraged them to join in family devotions. Cecil also taught his children to respect their mother and do what is right. Cecil worked hard to provide for his family, and always took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was generous to a fault with them giving to them while he was still alive. Extended family was also important to Cecil, and when possible, he visited them and kept a good relationship with them. Cecil was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and he excelled at each of these roles. Cecil was a man of excellent integrity in the community and in the church. For many years Cecil & Alice also served with the Gideons International. He cared for those around him and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. From the beginning of their marriage, Cecil & Alice committed to giving to missionary work in various parts of the world and enjoyed hosting visiting missionaries in their home. Cecil enjoyed many interests, farming, fishing with his sons, teasing his sweetheart, building various things, eating his sweetheart’s cooking, and visiting with family and friends. Cecil stayed dedicated to his beloved
