Dale Anderson Obituary

Dale Anderson, age 68, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at The Meadows in Swift Current, SK with family by his side. Dale Melvin Anderson was born on February 4, 1957 in Central Butte, SK to Melvin & Deanna Anderson. As a boy, he loved the farm and the ranch life that he was raised in, and quickly grew a fondness for animals, especially horses, like his father and his uncle. Dale left home and moved to Swift Current early on in life and took work with his Uncle Percy Larter who owned Union Sand and Gravel. Dale found his niche in excavating and dirt work. Eventually, he formed his own company, Trail Excavating. Dale was known for digging basements in the city and dug the majority of every basement “behind the mall”. Along the way he made countless friends and repeat customers. He continued to operate until his passing. Dale had many charming attributes and characteristics. He was an advocate for family time, making many trips to visit his sisters and their families. Dale loved spending quality time with his sons and their families in all capacities but was partial to a bonfire or a road trip. Dale’s home on the acreage for the last 30 years was his favourite place, always tinkering on an old truck or tractor, and tending to his many animals. When he wasn’t home, he was usually at coffee row with his buddies or camping and trail riding in the West Block of the Cypress Hills. Dale’s commitment as a board member and director of the Swift Current Ag & Ex was possibly one of his greatest dedications. He valued the heavy horse community deeply and was often called to judge various events throughout the Southwest and Manitoba. In and around Swift Current, Dale’s wagon rides were the star attraction of many events, from weddings to Christmas celebrations. He had an extensive social network, which within he became notorious for his big laugh, kind gestures, and loving heart. Dale is survived by his sons, Chris (Sara), Cade (Laurie), Keagan (Jessica); his sisters, Donna, Lisa (Jeff); his grandchildren, Shanda, Keala, Paige, Reese (Cole), Brantley, Kasher, and Kassidy; his great-grandchild, Maverick; as well as by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dale was pre-deceased by his mother, Deanna; his father, Melvin; a sister, Leanne; and by a brother, Leonard.
