Dale Pilkey

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, and friend, Dale Pilkey, on Monday, February 1, 2021 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK.

Dale was predeceased by his parents, Carl & Anne; and by his brother, Brian. Dale will be sadly missed by his wife, Laurie; their daughters, Allison (John) and Nicole (Blake); his brothers, Evan (Corinne) and Terry (Cathy); his mother-in-law, Jean Schramm; his brother-in-law, Mark (Sharon) Schramm; his sister-in-law, Shonna (Dale) Molle; his nieces, nephews, and extended family; and by his colleagues and many friends.

Dale Kenneth Pilkey was born December 26, 1956 to Carl & Anne Pilkey in Moose Jaw, SK and raised in Assiniboia, SK, along with his three brothers. He attended the University of Saskatchewan where he studied finance and met the love of his life, Laurie Schramm. Dale & Laurie moved to Swift Current and made it their home. In 1989, their twin girls, Allison and Nicole, were born.

Dale had a very successful career as an Investment Financial Advisor and was a founder of Prairie West Financial Group. He spent the remainder of this career at Mercator Financial and truly valued his relationships with his clients and colleagues, who became life-long friends.

Dale was also an entrepreneur who enjoyed supporting and developing small local businesses. He was an avid sports fan and loved to golf, curl, and participate in sports drafts with the “guys,” as well as spending time with friends. Dale also enjoyed teasing his wife about her love for nature and feeding every bird in Swift Current.

In 2009, Dale was diagnosed with cancer — despite having multiple setbacks, he never let that get his spirits down or take away his sense of humor and contagious laugh. Dale was the type of person that you stop in to say “hi” and leave two hours later with a smile on your face. Though he had to leave his career earlier than he would have liked, one thing never changed right to the end of his life — Dale always put others first and wouldn’t hesitate to help in any way that he could.

Due to gathering restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Dale, donations made to the Swift Current SPCA (Box 1163 Stn Main, Swift Current, SK, S9H 3X3) or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
