Darlene Braun, age 86, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at the Willow Creek Manor, surrounded by family.
Darlene Grace (Janz) Braun was born on November 7, 1937 near Main Centre, SK, to Edward & Laura Janz, the oldest of nine children. Darlene accepted the Lord as her Saviour by the age of twelve and was baptized at the Main Centre Mennonite Brethren Church on August 19, 1956. A few months later, she married William Braun on November 4, 1956.
After their marriage, Darlene worked in a local grocery store and as a housekeeper in the Swift Current Union Hospital. After their two sons were born, she devoted herself full time to homemaking. Later in their lives, she joined Willie in the cabinet business, finishing woodwork. Together, they also had a couple of major adventures, volunteering with the local Mennonite Disaster Service in Cheyenne, WY and in Sacramento, CA. Darlene also volunteered in the local thrift shop and served as a pal to several girls in the Pioneer Girls Program at Bridgeway Community Church in Swift Current. She treasured those relationships.
Darlene leaves to cherish her memory by her loving husband, William Braun; her sons, Trevor (Carrie) and Dwight (Millie); her grandchildren, Cody (Brittany), Cherise (Jared), Graham (Vanessa), and Cameron; her great-grandchildren, Lennon, Liam, Jackson, and Charlotte; her siblings, Darrel, Orval, Marion, Dorothy, Viola, and Sandra; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Shirley and Linton.
Darlene will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, and with love from her family and the many friends she made throughout the years until her final days.
Willie and family would like to express their deep appreciation for the excellent and compassionate care that was provided by the staff at Willow Creek Manor.
