Delnor Johnsgaard, age 88, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Clover House, Swift Current, SK.
Delnor Otinus Johnsgaard was born August 14, 1933 at the Swift Current Union Hospital. He grew up on the family farm in the Stewart Valley area and attended the Atlas School.
On April 2, 1956 Delnor married the love of his life, Louise (Reimer), and together they raised three children — Darwin, Danielle, and Luana.
Delnor was involved with the farm until 1982, when he and Louise moved to Swift Current. Darwin & Teresa continued to operate and expand the family farm and Delnor helped when and where he was needed on the farm throughout the years. He always looked forward to seeding and harvesting the crops, contributing in any way he could.
In his later years, he found great joy in sitting in his lawn chair watering the garden or the lawn, sipping on a hot cup of coffee or the occasional cold beer.
In the fall of 2020, Delnor was diagnosed with cancer. After a tough surgery and an even tougher period of recovery, he enjoyed a few good months before the cancer returned. Delnor fought a hard battle until the very end but was unable to overcome the disease.
Delnor is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louise Johnsgaard (nee Reimer); his son, Darwin (Teresa) Johnsgaard; his daughters, Danielle Blanshard (Kelly Orsted) and Luana Johnsgaard; his grandchildren, Jarrod, Jayden, Brittany (Leuraunt Trach), Brailyn (Anna McLaughlin), Adrienne Blanshard, Graham Blanshard (Stephanie), Connor Redmond (Joni Maxwell), Liam Redmond, and Hanna Redmond; his great-grandchildren Embrie and Oaklynn Trach, Daxton Johnsgaard, and Alexander Blanshard; his brothers, Roy (Janet) Miller Jr. and Richard (Tanya) Miller; his sisters, Hellen (Dave) Ash, Linda Owens, Joyce (Jimmy) Miller-Dill, and Sue Burrows; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Delnor was predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth Johnsgaard (nee Howes); his stepfather, Nels Johnsgaard; his father, Roy Miller; and by his siblings, Ruby Labenovich (Johnsgaard), Anne Tone (Johnsgaard), and Patricia Sellner (Miller).
