Andrews, age 86, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at The Bentley Retirement Community, Swift Current, SK. Diana Elva Mary Andrews was born on December 25, 1939 at Empress, AB to George & Edith Inches. Diana grew up in Leader, SK, and was Valedictorian for her Graduating Class of 1958. She attended Regina Grey Nuns’ Nursing School and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1961. Diana moved to Swift Current and from 1968 – 1975 she was married to Constable Norman Yurchyshyn. Stuart Michael Andrews was born in 1972. Diana was a dedicated nurse, patient advocate, and mentor to many. She was employed in various nursing positions at Leader, Ottawa, and Swift Current until retiring in 2004. In 2002, Diana married John “Al” Thomson. Together they enjoyed travelling, cruising, and summers at Al’s cabin at Aquadeo Beach on Jackfish Lake, until his passing. Diana was a dedicated mother. She baked a chocolate chiffon cake and created a “Diana Designer” birthday card every year for Stuart. They enjoyed their “Yearly Winter Escape” to Victoria, BC. Diana was a talented seamstress, enjoyed petti point, photography, and dancing. Her yard and garden were her passion. She attended most of the Regina Grey Nuns’ Nursing Reunions until her Alzheimer’s diagnosis in 2023. Diana was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #56 and Daughters of the Nile Aurora Club #5. Diana was predeceased by her husband, Al Thomson; her parents, George & Edith Inches; Al’s brothers, Malcolm and Bill; and by Al’s sister, Dorothy (JD) “Mac” McNichol. Diana is survived by her son, Stuart Andrews; her brother; Al’s sisters-in-law, Jeannie Todd and Marlene Thomson; Al’s children, Beverley (Bill) Perret and Myles (Barbara) Thomson and their families; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
