Dora Wall Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Dora Wall, our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, only a few weeks after her 84th birthday. Dora was called to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024, passing away peacefully, with family by her side, at the St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon, SK.

Dora Almeda Wall was born on May 15, 1940, on the Block family farm near Main Centre, SK, to David & Anna Block, the youngest of seven children. After her schooling in Main Centre, Dora attended Bible School in Hepburn, SK.

Dora met her future husband, Leroy Wall, at the local hockey rink and soon he was taking her along to games in local communities. Dora & Leroy were married on July 27, 1958 in Main Centre, SK. This union was blessed with four sons – Garth, Stan, Robin and Brent, who were all raised on the family farm.

Dora was very involved with the Main Centre Mennonite Brethren Church. Dora received Jesus as her Savior and was baptized at a young age. Her faith was the cornerstone of their family life.  Compiling and updating cemetery records were also very important to her.

Some of Dora’s community achievements were assisting in producing a local memorial history book called, Excelsior Echoes, and helping transform the old Main Centre School into a museum known as Memory Hall. To this day, there are hundreds of items that she collected and donated to the museum. Dora also volunteered countless hours to Memory Hall with numerous fundraising events being held over the years – fall suppers, Christmas celebrations, Valentine parties, and many other events.

Dora enjoyed many hobbies including coin collecting, gardening, quilting, baking, and over the years scrapbooking life albums for each child and grandchild. Dora enjoyed singing with her brother and sisters over many decades, they harmonized so well together, truly a gift from God.  Summers involved volunteering at West Bank Bible Camp and some traveling.

Her faith was always present even as her health started to fail. She said God always has a plan, even as she valiantly battled cancer the last two years.

Dora leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Garth (Rita) Wall, Stan (Lisa Iannacone) Wall, and Brent Wall; her grandchildren and their families, Morgan (Marcus) Frohlick – Atticus: Bryce (Jennifer) Wall – Grayson and Vera: Brendon (Chelsey Fenwick) Wall: Caitlin (Todd Tinant) Wall: and Xanen Wall; and her sisters, Leona Braun, Selma Redekopp, and Elsie (Dan) Schindel. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Leroy Wall (2020); her son, Robin Wall (2014); her parents, David & Anna Block; her sisters, Lydia Braun and Frieda Braun; her brother, Ernest Block; and four brothers-in-law.

A Celebration of Life Service for Dora will be held on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the old Main Centre MB Church, with Donovan Epp officiating. The Interment Service will be at the Main Centre MB Church Cemetery. In memory of Dora Wall, donations made to West Bank Bible Camp would be appreciated by the family.
