Dorothy Duthie, age 97, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at The Meadows in Swift Current, SK. Dorothy Jean Duthie was born on April 24, 1928 at Waldeck, SK to Ernest & Eva Keeler. She grew up in the Waldeck district, and from an early age Dorothy milked cows’ morning and evening at her dad’s dairy. After completing Grade 12, she trained as a Registered Nurse at Moose Jaw General Hospital. Her nursing career spanned forty-five years from which she retired in 1993. Family and Friends were of great importance to Dorothy. There was always a great meal and a clean bed at her home. She loved to dance, square dancing and round dancing for many years. She was an active member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Swift Current, involved in the alter guild, singing in the choir, and other church activities. Dorothy loved to travel and over the years she went on many trips. Along with her busy life, she always kept a large garden which included many flowers. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Terry (Susan) Page, Denise (Bill) Palmer, Maurice (Carol) Wells; her five grandchildren, Gordon (Amanda) Page, David Page, Jennifer Wells, Larissa Wells, and Kristen (Jason) Paul – their children, Zelda, Garrus, and Myrrah; her two stepchildren, Marnet (Jan) Duthie and Jackie Bradley; and by numerous nieces and nephews. The Family would like to extend a heartfelt thankyou to Dorothy’s doctors, and to the staff at House 20 for their many years of caring for Mom.
The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 1:30 pm at St. Stephen Anglican Church, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Shepherd Munzara officiating. The pianist for the service was Sharon Uteck. “Morning Has Broken”, “The Lord is My Shepherd”, “Jerusalem the Golden”, and “The Day Thou Gavest” were sung by the congregation. The ushers in the church were Stephen Philp and David James. The Interment will take place at a later date at the Waldeck Cemetery, Waldeck, SK. In memory of Dorothy Duthie, donations made to St. Stephen Anglican Church, Swift Current, SK would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
