It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Dorothy Joan Phillips (nee Watts) age 96, on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021, at the Western Senior Citizens Home in Leader, SK.
Dorothy was born on June 24, 1924, on the farm at Hazlet. Dorothy grew up, and became a schoolteacher before marrying Clifford Phillips. They raised five children and worked on the farm at Abbey, that she loved so very much.
Dorothy was intelligent, wise, and an avid reader. If she offered any advice, which was seldom, her clever and humorous quips were always words to live by.
Dorothy was also a generous soul, happily offering her time, resources and energy to many community events and good causes. Her giving heart knew no bounds of compassion and kindness.
Dorothy will be remembered for so many wonderful things – her light heartedness, her adventurous spirit, her witty charm, and a giggle that sometimes could not stop once it started. But mostly Dorothy will be remembered for how she loved and how she lived, gratefully and graciously, seeing the beauty in all things…unless it was mice!!
Dorothy’s earthly presence will be missed dearly.
Thank you to the wonderful staff at The Western Senior Citizen’s Centre for taking such good care of our Dot.
A memorial service will be held on July 29th, 2021, at the Roe School at 2pm.
In Memory of Dorothy Phillips, donations made to the Leader Senior Citizens Auxiliary, Box 69, Leader SK
SON 1HO, would be appreciated by the family.
