Dr. Terrance "Terry" Gordon Obituary

It is with great sadness and much love that we mourn-the passing of Terrance Gordon at his home on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the age of 72.

Terry was an extraordinarily gentle and sensitive man — beloved and respected by his family, friends, colleagues, and patients for his compassion, kindness, thoughtfulness
and integrity.

Terry was born on December 26, 1947 in Calgary, AB. After high school, Terry continued his education, receiving his Bachelor of Education with Distinction and then taught fulltime in the elementary level in Lethbridge, AB.

In 1974, he was accepted into the Medical Program and received his Medical Degree. On completion, he was offered a fulltime operating room physician assistant position at St. Michael's Hospital in Lethbridge.

In 1988, Terry made Swift Current, SK his home — with exception of two and half years spent in a medical clinic in North Dakota. Shortly after his return to Swift Current, Terry and his partners established their medical practice, Southwest Medi-Centre, where he practiced medicine with a passion until he was forced to retire due to illness in October 2019. Leaving his patients (friends) was so very hard on him. There was an outpouring of good wishes sent his way by so many, which touched his heart deeply.

Terry, in his doctor-patient relationships, was warm and kind. He was empathetic, honest, and genuine. He understood the importance of listening to his patients and their needs. Medicine and caring for people were his passion. He enjoyed each and every day going into Southwest Medi-Centre, not only for his patients, but for the relationship he had with his partners, Dr. de Klerk and Dr. Bakare, colleagues, Dr. Steenkamp and Dr. Van Breta, and his wonderful staff.

Terry's family was important to him. He was so proud of all his children and grandchildren and loved them dearly. Spending time with them was one of his biggest enjoyments. He also loved to talk about his other favorite family, Max and later on Cooper, his schnauzers. He doted on them, thinking they always deserved a treat.

Camping was a big thing when the kids were younger and again with his grandchildren. Having a campfire going was a must for him, he loved sitting by the campfire and visiting with family and friends. He would always, always be offering everybody food or drink. One of his simplest pleasures was a Wendy's burger and frosty.

He loved working in the yard, planting, watering and later years, was content to sit back and enjoy the beautiful yard.

Terry will always be remembered as a kind, loving, caring, gentle man and will be missed dearly by all that knew him.

Terry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol; his children John (Natalie) Gordon, Kristine (Jay) Schenkey, and Jodi Gordon; his grandchildren, Dylan Gordon, Chase Knutson, Marissa Gordon, Ryder Knutson, Taya Schenkey, and Avery Schenkey; his sister, Betty Ann Brown-Warr; his sisters and brothers-in-Iaw, Nancy (Grant) Paulson, Barb (Larry) Giesbrecht, and Greig Reid; and by many loved nieces and a nephew.

Terry was predeceased by his parents, Andrew & Betty Joan Gordon; his brothers, Richard Gordon and Robert Gordon; his sister, Sandra Reid; his parents-in-law, Raymond & Margaret Gates; and by his nephew, Christopher.

A special thank you to Home Care, Palliative Care, Co-op Pharmacy, Dr. Bakare and Dr. de Klerk for their care provided this last year. The family sincerely appreciates the
exceptional care received.

Per Dr. Gordon’s request, there will be no formal funeral services.
