Edith Taylor Obituary

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Edith Elizabeth Taylor, age 86, on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Cypress House, Swift Current. Edith, or ET as she was known by all, was born to Sam & Topsy Herron on September 15, 1936 at the family farm near Tupper, SK. She had two brothers, Gordon (Linda) and Orville (Marilyn).

Edith completed her schooling in Saltcoats, SK. Her favorite memories and stories told were during summer jobs and softball in Madge Lake. She met her former husband, Ray Taylor, in the Saltcoats/Bredenbury area. They were married on July 27, 1955 and had five children — Russell (Shirley), Randy (Judi), Sharon Merkel (Wayne), Sheila Hunter (Curt), and Dean. Edith had twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Edith was predeceased by her son, Russell Taylor; her parents, Sam & Topsy Herron; and by her brother, Gordon Herron.

Throughout her life Edith lived in several cities in Saskatchewan including Yorkton, Lloydminster, and Swift Current. She formed friendships wherever she lived and her final move was to Swift Current in 1991. She was employed by the Health Region and at all times took pride in her positions.

ET was an avid sports fan. She could be found at hockey rinks, ball diamonds, figure skating venues, and rodeo arenas as she cheered on her children and then her grandchildren. The Flames, Blue Jays, and Roughrider games were not to be missed! Music, dancing, cards, and bingo all provided the important social outlet which she loved. She was also known to enjoy the casino and most often came out on the winning side!

A Celebration of Life will be held at a family reunion in the summer.
