Edna Harms, age 86, loving mother of three, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020, at Edmonton, Alberta.
Edna Rose Harms was born on April 6, 1933 in Sand Beach, SK to Jacob & Sarah (Wiebe) Letkeman. She met Jacob Harms, the love of her life, whom she married on August 9, 1952. They began their life in Alberta where Edna worked in nursing. They later settled in Waldeck, Saskatchewan where she raised two sons, Jack and Bob, and her daughter, Nancy. In 1980, Edna moved to Swift Current where she lived until 1992, when she moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta, and later moving to Edmonton in 2012 to be closer to her family where she resided until her passing.
For Edna, having a family was like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Edna always took an interest in people, and after any conversation would always remember the smallest of details including the names or dates of anyone mentioned in those conversations. She was a wonderful baker as visiting friends and family where always treated to her famous homemade buns. She had a wonderful sense of humour and would rarely be found without a broad smile on her face. Edna loved music along with singing and dancing. She would often jump at the chance to dance and sing along with her favorite tune.
Edna was predeceased by her husband, Jacob Harms; her parents, Jacob & Sarah Letkeman; and by her two sisters, Elma and Verna. She is survived by her two sons, Jack and Bob (Shannon); her daughter, Nancy; her eight grandchildren; her five great-grandchildren; and by her seven brothers and sisters.
The Funeral Service for Edna Harms was held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 2:00 pm from the Swift Current Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Smart Officiating. The Interment Service was held prior to the Funeral Service from Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, SK.
