Ed Wiens, age 75, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Edward David Wiens was born on September 10, 1948 at Wymark, SK to David & Susie Wiens. Ed grerw up on the farm and attended the Wymark School. He worked at a variety of jobs in the area from farming to construction. In 1971, he was baptized in the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church. Ed and Leona Ginter were married on May 1, 1971, and this union was blessed with two sons, Michael and Steve. Ed & Leona first lived in Wymark and Swift Current before settling in Chortitz in 1974. Ed enjoyed his retirement on the acreage with Leona, gardening, mowing, puttering around the yard, learning how to smoke meat, and trying to keep up with his boys. Ed loved visiting and being around people, especially his family. It was always a highlight when everyone was all together. Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Ed leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 53 years, Leona; his sons, Michael (Chantell) and Steve (Janelle); his grandchildren, Andrew (Meggan), Alyssa, Rachel, Isabelle, Caius, Quentin, and Zachary; his five great-grandchildren; his sister, Anna (John); his brother, Johnny; his sister-in-law, Marilyn (Randy); his brother-in-law, Bill (Betty); and by numerous special nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, David & Susie Wiens; his in-laws, William & Helen Ginter; his sister, Eleanor; and by his brother-in-law, Joe.
