Elaine Levorson Obituary

Elaine Levorson (nee Abraham), age 81, of Cabri, SK passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021, surrounded by her loving family after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 62 years, John Levorson; her children, Tammy (Cole) Wilson, Brad (Denise) Levorson, and Darren Levorson; her grandchildren, Trey (Chelsea) Wilson, Kye Wilson, Tanner (Beth) Levorson, Layna Levorson, Stevie Levorson, and Luke Levorson; her great-grandson, Leo; her sister, Carol Farr; her brother, Max (Dalice) Abraham; her sister-in-law, Ingrid Levorson; her brother-in-law, Lorne Levorson; and by many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Elaine was predeceased by her parents Harold & Cathy Abraham; her parents-in-law, Tom & Toni Levorson; her sister-in-law, Elsie Mitchell; and by her brother-in-law, Wayne Olenick.

Elaine Catherine Levorson was born June 30, 1940 in Cabri SK — the oldest child of Harold & Cathy Abraham. She attended Cabri School and had many fun adventures growing up on the farm. She often talked of her time spent outside playing with her siblings and her cousins. Trips to the river and Saturday night excursions to town were always a highlight.

It was at the swimming pool as a teen that Elaine first laid eyes on her true love, John. She had been working at the telephone office until her marriage to John Levorson on July 21, 1959 in Battrum, SK, where John was farming. They continued to raise their three children in Cabri until 1975, when they built a new home on the farm. Elaine felt as though she had won the lottery. She immersed herself in farm living, gardening, supporting her husband, and feeding many hired men over the years.

Elaine has always been a strong community member throughout the years by serving on many committees and clubs. Her commitment to community involved being a CGIT leader, Library Board, Housing Authority, coaching ball and basketball teams, Swimming Pool Committee, Cabri Days Committee, Hospital Auxiliary, Tennis Club, and Cemetery Committee. She had many passions in her life from playing ball, golfing, curling, card clubs, baking, reading, and travelling. Watching sports on tv helped her pass her time in the last few years, which continued to bring her pleasure.

Most importantly, Elaine put others before herself. She was always there to support family and friends in her gentle ways. Her grandchildren brought her enormous pleasure as she enjoyed following their pursuits and adventures. She was fortunate in her last days of life to become a great-grandmother and hold baby Leo in her arms.

A sincere heartfelt thanks to friends, family and the community for the love and support we have received since Elaine’s passing and during her illness. Special thanks to our amazing palliative and homecare team. May she finally rest her tired body and be at peace.
