Eldon Schultz Obituary

Eldon Larry Schultz, age 85, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 29, 2022. Eldon was born April 5, 1937 on the family farm near Rush Lake, SK – the fourth of eight children born to Diedrich & Amanda Schultz. He attended Bethania — a little school that as was always said to be located “uphill both ways, bare foot from the farm” as a child. Eldon worked on the Seismic rigs in Melita, MB.

On July 13, 1959 he was set up on a blind date with Alberta Joyce Schultz and it was said, “he was blind, and she was the date!” On that blind date, Eldon asked this young lady to skip across the line and get married, but both chickened out. On August 28, 1959 Eldon married the love of his life, Joyce, at the United Church in Brandon, MB.

They headed out to Herbert, SK, where Eldon’s job led him to the oil rigs. In December 1959, Eldon received a recall to Orenda Engines in Ontario and worked there until 1966. On May 16, 1960 their first child, James Corey Schultz, was born in Brampton, ON. Wanting more children, their second child, Clark William, arrived on August 19, 1965 and was adopted in September. The family decided that Saskatchewan was the best move for the family, so Eldon found a job and they settled in Waldeck, SK in the fall of 1966. On July 12, 1968 their third child, Heather Leigh, arrived and was adopted in September.

In March 1969, they bought a house (without plumbing) from the Pool Elevator for $400 in St. Aldwyn, SK. After many repairs and updates, they raised their family in a very open country setting. In the country, the family enjoyed hunting for gophers, trapping muskrats, and storm watching on the deck. During this time, Eldon was very active in his family activities and the church. Eldon went to STI welding school, currently known as Sask Polytech, in Moose Jaw, SK which led him to Swift Farm and Industrial as a welder and he retired from REM Manufacturing Ltd. in Swift Current. During retirement, Eldon would stay busy going to church, on coffee runs, and taking walks.

Eldon was loved in the community and known for his continuous smile, witty sense of humor, and being a flirtatious character — always able to talk his way to an extra pudding by flirting with the nurses. Eldon was always able to find the bright side during the best and worst of times through humor and making others smile. Eldon always enjoyed his visits with family and being around people in his community, making many friends through his coffee runs and walks through the local Walmart. Eldon never hesitated to help others in need and bless them with his faith in his Lord and Savior.

Eldon was predeceased by his wife, Alberta Joyce; his parents, Diedrich & Amanda Schultz; his parents-in-law, Hewson & Dorothy Clark; his sister, Nora Shostal; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Ann) Schultz, Elmer (Florence) Schultz, and Raymond (Farida) Schultz; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mable & Jack Byam and Viola (Albert) Patzer; and by his sister, Caroline Bowie/Jenkins.

Eldon is survived by his sons and daughter and their families; his son, Corey (Lisa) Schultz and their children, Tim (Sunny) Dyck, Michelle (Travis) Darr, Courtney (Andrew) Deley, and Nicole Schultz; his son, Clark (Bernie) Schultz and their children, Aaron Schulties, Morgan (Cody) Yates, and Sydney Schultz (fiancée, Austin Castle); his daughter, Heather (Jeff) Lee and their daughters, Shelby Lee (fiancée, Jon Sortino) and Amanda (Jacob) Nichols; his great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Arthur (Carolyn) Shostal; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

“We never say good-bye, it’s see you soon.” — Eldon Schultz
