Elizabeth Donnelly

Liz Donnelly passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at the Herbert & District Integrated Facility, Herbert, SK with her beloved husband, Tom, and her daughter, Donna, by her side.

Elizabeth “Liz” Angeline Donnelly was born on July 23,1935, in Bracken, SK, the second child of John & Mary Dukat. She grew up on the family farm with her parents and 4 siblings in the Rosefield district, south of Val Marie, SK.

Liz worked alongside her parents on the farm and later trained to become a Nurse’s Aide. After working in a variety of Saskatchewan hospitals, Liz moved to Herbert to continue her career at the local Herbert-Morse Union Hospital. She was regarded by her colleagues and patients as a kind, hardworking caregiver with a great sense of humor.

It was in Herbert that Liz met the love of her life, Tom Donnelly, and they were married in 1968. They welcomed their daughter, Donna, in 1969 and Liz devoted her time and energy to being a loving, dedicated mom.

Later years saw the family grow to include a son-in-law, Terry, and grandchildren, Nathan, Chelsey, and Braden. Liz was so proud of her family and prayed for them every day.

Liz enjoyed the outdoors, tending to her lovely flowers and helping Tom with farming.

She was very sociable, and loved visiting when she and Tom attended dances, Lions Club functions, and events at the skating and curling rinks. She was admired for her delicious homemade buns and raisin cookies. She also used her early experience with breast cancer to support and encourage others facing a similar battle. Liz was a good person who tried hard at all she did.

Liz leaves behind her dear husband, Tom, who cared for her so tenderly throughout the years; her daughter & son-in-law, Donna & Terry Fischer; her grandchildren, Nathan, Chelsey, and Braden (Tori); her sisters, Mary (Phil) and Alfreda; sister-in-law, Chris; and many special in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Liz was predeceased by her parents, John & Mary Dukat; her sister, Steiva (Gordon); her brother, John; and by her nieces, Carol, Maureen, and Wendy.
