Obituary

Eva Penner was born on March 18, 1936, near Carrot River, SK, to John & Maria Penner. Her family later moved to Gouldtown, SK where she attended school. She received her nurses training in Saskatoon and North Battleford, Saskatchewan graduating in 1955. After graduation she began her career at the Swift Current Union Hospital. Shortly after moving to Swift Current Eva met George Molyneux. They were married on June 29, 1957 in the First United Church in Swift Current.

George was a carpenter and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Airforce in 1959 as a craftsman. They were stationed at Comox, BC where their children were both born, Brenda in 1960, and Brent in 1962. The air force posted George to Pagwa River an isolation posting in 1963. Eva and the kids lived first with Eva’s parents on the family farm near Steinbach Manitoba, later relocating to Geraldton, Ontario. Their final posting was at North Bay, Ontario. In 1964 they returned to Swift Current. They built their forever home in 1967, where they lived until George’s passing in 2020. Eva sold the family home to her granddaughter Taylor and moved to Riverview Village Estates in 2021. Eva thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and social events Riverview had to offer, loved the company of long-time friends, and made many new friends.

Eva had a lengthy career in nursing, most of those years on the maternity ward. Even while still working full time George & Eva found time to travel to Palm Springs, California every winter for 32 years and loved it when family would join them. After retirement Eva kept busy with her church, volunteer work, line dancing, golf, and cherished spending time with family and friends.

Eva is survived by her daughter, Brenda Gruetzner (Roland); her son, Brent Molyneux (Lorraine); her granddaughters, Kaitlyn Gruetzner, Taylor Denning (Joel) - their children, Mia and Anders; Lorraine’s children, Ali Holmes (Ryan), Marcus Holmes (Ashley) and Bailey Holmes (Brittany); step-great-grandchildren, Mya, Tristan, Emma, Summer Grayson and Kipton, Noah, and Nelson; her sister, Helen Harder (Jac); her brothers, Pete Penner (Kathy) and Henry Penner (Dianne); her sisters-in-law Nettie Penner and Doreen Penner; and by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews on both sides of the family.

She was predeceased by her loving husband George; her beloved grandson, Bryce; her parents, Johann & Maria Penner; her brothers, Jacob Penner and Dick Penner; her in-laws, Walter Molyneux & Robertina Molyneux; her brothers-in-law, Robert Molyneux, David Molyneux; her sisters-in-law, Margaret Dowhanuik (Alec), Ellen Weston (Maurice); a nephew, Dale Weston; and by nieces, Carol Dowhanuik and Gaylene Dowhanuik.
