Evelyn Kitteringham

Evelyn Kitteringham, age 95, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Cypress Reginal Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Evelyn Violet Kitteringham was born on June 29, 1929 in Boissevain, MB, the second child of Estella Romanczysz & Martin Fredrick Crowhurst. She grew up in Boissevain, working long hours in the family-owned bakery. The family was very committed to the bakery, as they were open every day except Sunday, to attend church, which was very important to them. Evelyn was confirmed on March 25, 1942. Evelyn and Kenneth Henderson were married on January 6,1948. They lived and worked in various communities, eventually moving to Swift Current where Evelyn resided for the next 70 years. This union was blessed with three sons: Philip, Steve, and Lance, and a daughter: Sandra. Family was very important to Evelyn & Ken, often vacationing at Clear Water Lake. They also loved to go visit Evelyns siblings, Tom and Marion, and their families. Evelyn worked most of her life in clerical positions, at Ashdown’s, the School Division, and at the Booster. However, she still found time to have fun, walking in the rain and snowstorms were always a favorite. She also enjoyed reading, drawing, and she even found the time to write a book. Ken passed away on January 10, 1986, which was very hard for the family. Evelyn continued to work, and about a year later an old friend, Clyde Kitteringham, showed up under the pretense of teaching her to drive. He must have been a good driving instructor because she managed to pass her driving test (which no one thought was possible). Evelyn married her driving instructor, Clyde Kitteringham, on July 31, 1987 and they enjoyed 18 wonderful years together. Clyde treated Evelyn very well and it was greatly appreciated. Clyde passed away on September 23, 2005.  Evelyn was predeceased by both of her husband’s, Ken Henderson and Clyde Kitteringham; her daughter, Sandra Richardson; her parents, Estella & Martin Fredrick Crowhurst; her in-laws, Isobel & Herb Henderson; her brother, Fred Crowhurst; her sister-in-law, Lil Crowhurst, and by her brother-in-law, Bill Brigden. She is survived by her family, Phil & Kathy Henderson, Swift Current – their family, Stacy, Darcy & Kelly (Grady and Mack), Candice (Seleana and Trinity): Sandra’s family, Pauline and Scott: Steve & Mary Henderson, Swift Current –  their family, Anika & Vim (Ari, Priya & Andrew, and Milan), and Ryan (Anahra, Scarlett and Ash): Lance & Karen Henderson, Saskatoon; her great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Tom Crowhurst; her sister, Marion Brigden; and by her sister-in-law, Maria Crowhurst.
