Frances Wagner, age 94, of Cabri passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Cypress House, Swift Current, SK. Frances is survived by two sisters, Sally Wagner and Elizabeth Sannes; her brother, Greg Bonogofsky; her sisters-in-law, Marj Bonogofsky and Anne Bonogofski; her brother-in-law, Tony Heck; her sister and brother-in-law, Teresa “Teri” & Don Taylor; and by many nieces, nephews, and very special friends.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, Remigius “Rem” Wagner, in December of 2014; her parents, Isidor & Dorothea Bonogofski; her parents-in-law, Anton Sr. & Clara Wagner; five sisters, Christina, Barbara, Anne Hagel, Mary Guckert, and Agnes Heck; six brothers, Joe, Ole, Zack, Anthony, Isidore, and Peter; four sisters-in-law, Betty Bonogofski, Shirley Bonogofsky, Anne Wagner, and Fanny Guckert; six brothers-in-law, Peter Hagel, Frank Wagner, Mike Guckert, Jack Guckert, Roy Wagner and Don Sannes; her nephews, Richard Guckert, Ken Bonogofski, Charles Bonogofski, Lesley Bonogofski, Harvey Guckert, and Wes Taylor; and by her nieces, Eileen Bonogofski and Marlene Thares.
Frances was the eighth child born to Isidor & Dorothea Bonogofski on February 1, 1928. She attended Herman school and Prelate school. In 1945, Frances enrolled in Normal School in Moose Jaw, SK and in 1946, she accepted her first teaching position at Jordon, SK — a country school north of Ernfold, SK.
In 1948, Frances married Rem Wagner of Dirksburg District, while teaching. They moved to Cabri in 1949 and called Cabri home. Frances & Rem did not have children of their own, but enjoyed their nieces and nephews, their great-nieces and nephews, and all the children of the Cabri community.
After 35 years of teaching, Frances retired and chose to enjoy her leisure time. Frances enjoyed baking (which she shared throughout the town of Cabri), gardening, crocheting, and was a fan of the Cabri Bulldog hockey team — not of Wayne Gretzky. Frances enjoyed coffee row with her friends daily followed by a drive around the town. She loved to play cards, doing crossword puzzles, and watching game shows. She was an avid sports fan and she seldom missed curling or a Blue Jays game on tv.
Despite her advanced age, Frances never lost her wit, knowledge, or independence. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
