Frank Dyck Obituary

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce that our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Frank J. Dyck, age 90, of Wymark, SK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK, surrounded by the love of his family.

Frank leaves behind a legacy rooted deeply in love, humility, and unwavering devotion. He will be forever cherished by his children, Larry (Gwen) Dyck, Gregory (Angelina) Dyck, and Rhonda (Rick) Armstrong; his grandchildren, Alicia (Derek) Dewald, Tyson (Emily) Dyck, Dylan (Kristin) Armstrong, BJ (Danielle) Armstrong, Riley (Maegan) Armstrong, Levi (Kass) Armstrong, Alex (Kylee) Dyck, Keaton Dyck, Ethan Dyck, and Hudson Dyck; and by his precious great-grandchildren, Treyton, Makayla, Carter, Stella, Beau, Georgia, Eliza, Chloe, Jax, Blakely, Beck, Nora, Harper, and Pearson. He is reunited in heaven with his loving wife, Stella; his granddaughter, Cheryl; and his brothers, Jake and Martin.

Frank J. Dyck was born on August 18, 1935 in Chortitz, SK, to Jacob & Aganetha Dyck. Frank grew up on the open prairie, where hard work, family, and faith shaped every part of his life. He attended Versailles School, later moving with his parents and brothers to Wymark. School was never where Frank’s spirit thrived—his heart belonged to curiosity, mischief, and the open fields. He was known for his jokes, playful tricks, and the twinkle in his eye that followed him all his life.

At age 20, Frank built his own welder with the help of his father—an early sign of the ingenuity that would define him. With no formal training, he taught himself how electrical systems worked. He tinkered with radios, repaired appliances, fixed bailers and combines, and brought life back to stationary engines. He had a passion for thrashing, a love for John Deere tractors, and a deep appreciation for the comforting crackle of old records, especially those of Stompin’ Tom Connors. Frank was gifted with hands that could fix anything and a heart that could mend even more.

At just 21 years old, Frank lost his father, a moment that changed the course of his life forever. With a strength far beyond his years, he stepped into the role of provider and protector, caring for his mother and younger brothers, Martin and John. This early responsibility shaped the man he became—steady, dependable, and full of quiet wisdom.

On June 25, 1961, Frank married the love of his life, Stella Ginter. Together, they built a home overflowing with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. Their doors were always open — wide enough to welcome not only family and the community, but many children they fostered over the years. Frank & Stella offered stability, kindness, and safety to those who needed it most, leaving an immeasurable impact on countless lives.

Family was the heart of Frank’s life. He adored his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether he was teasing them, telling stories, or offering a helping hand, he showed his love in the most genuine and steady of ways. His family will forever cherish the memories of holidays, gatherings, farm visits, and the simple, everyday moments that meant the most.

Frank lived simply, humbly, and joyfully. He may have famously avoided fruits and vegetables, but he thrived on homegrown potatoes, cream gravy, humor, and the beef and pork he raised himself. He lived life on his own terms—with a smile, a story, a joke, and a deep appreciation for the people around him. Over 90 remarkable years, Frank shaped a life defined by resilience, generosity, and the steady, unwavering love he poured into his family. His legacy lives on in every person touched by his kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit. We will carry him with us always — in our stories, in our laughter, and in our hearts — until we meet again.
