Garfield Dewar Obituary

Garfield (Gar) Dewar, age 92, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK.

Gar was born on July 7, 1927 and attended Hazlet School. On April 24, 1948 Gar married Violet (Vi) Wilson and they began their farm life together. They loved to visit, play cards and go to dances. Gar & Vi raised their two sons, Lonnie and Larry, on the farm.

Farming was the highlight of Gar’s life. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and going to the coffee shop in Hazlet. Gar tuned in to the Trading Post each and every day. Gar & Vi moved into the Village of Hazlet in 1979 where they had the best view in town! Forty years later, they moved to Riverview Estates in Swift Current in April 2019.

Gar was predeceased by his baby daughter, Judy; his parents, Bob & Ethel Dewar; his brother, Lyle Dewar; and by his half brother, Floyd Anderson.

Gar will be forever missed by his children, Lonnie (Sharleen) (Medicine Hat, AB) and Larry (Michelle) (Hazlet, SK); his grandchildren, Dagan, Cody (Amber), Galen, Shea (Ashley), Tara, and Brandon; and by his great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Caitlyn, Jaxon, and Orion.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In memory of Gar Dewar, donations made to the Hazlet Rink Complex (c/o Village of Hazley, Box 150, Hazlet, SK, S0N 1E0) or the Hazlet Regional Park (Hazlet, SK, S0N 1E0) would be appreciated by the family.
