Mr. Harold Tangen, age 92, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Harold Lloyd Tangen was born on August 7, 1927 to Arnie & Selma Tangen at Stewart Valley, SK. Dad’s main love was family and was always there when you needed him. He always had a smile for everyone and never an unkind word for anyone. He loved to travel, was an avid golfer, and enjoyed many hours of playing cards. Dad loved music and his love of the piano entertained all of us at the various family gatherings. He had a fantastic sense of humor and could tell a joke with the best of them.
Harold is survived by his children, Gloria Keller-Markkula (Wilf), Patricia Kew (Doug), and Darren Tangen (Leah); his grandchildren, Leesa Poffenroth (Jason), Troy Keller (Tina), Braden and Taylor Tangen, and Jackson Allan; his great-grandchildren, River, London, Riali, and Bethany; his step-grandchildren, Vicki and Ken; his step-great-grandchildren, David, James, William, Jolene, Arden, Avery, and Aurora; his brothers, Roger, Bob, and Gary; sisters, Faye, Sheila, and Cheryle; and by many nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by his wife, SyBil Tangen; his granddaughter, Colleen Keller; his grandson, Dean Poffenroth; his step-grandson, Scott Slinkard; his parents, Arnie & Selma Tangen; and by his sisters, Audrey Street, Jeanette Targerson, Rita Tangen, and Donna Tangen.
The Funeral Service was held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2:00 pm from St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”, and “How Great Thou Art” were sung by the congregation accompanied by Arlie Neufeld on the piano. The tribute was presented by Harold’s son, Darren Tangen. Special music was brought by Harold’s children, Patti Kew, Darren Tangen, and Gloria Keller and they were accompanied by Harold’s grandson, Troy Keller. The ushers in the church were Cassidy Hamilton and Shawnda Gellner. The Interment Service was held at the Mount Pleasant Burial Park, Swift Current, SK with Tracey Tangen, David Slinkard, John Wiebe, David Wiebe, Craig Tangen, and Brent Tangen serving as pallbearers.
