Obituary

Harry Gerbrandt, age 92, went to be with his Savior at 8:30pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK.

Harry Cornelius Gerbrandt was born on August 19, 1930 at the family home in Rosefarm, south of Herbert, SK to Cornelius & Susan Gerbrandt. He attended the Rosefarm School until completing the eighth grade.

Harry married Lena Penner on October 11, 1950 in the Greenfarm MB Church. They farmed in the Rockside School District, north of Rush Lake, SK until they sold the farm in 2010 and moved to Pambrun, SK, where they lived until he passed.

Harry drove school bus for 29 years and also served on the Herbert Coop Board for several terms. He loved hunting and trapping and did taxidermy work.

His commitment to Jesus Christ and his faith in Him was the most important thing his life. He supported numerous missionaries and was a strong supporter of Millar College of the Bible. He was very active in his home church, the Herbert Evangelical Free Church, and served as leader of the Christian Service Brigade for 25 years. Harry also served as an elder, Sunday School teacher, sang in the choir, and in many other roles for many years.

Harry was predeceased by his mother, Susie (nee Klassen) Gerbrandt; his father, Cornelius Gerbrandt; and by all five of his siblings and their spouses.

Harry is survived by his wife, Lena Gerbrandt; his six children and fifteen grandchildren, Tom (Becky) Gerbrandt (Katie and Mitchell), Mary (Cliff) Leister (Janice, Lynette, and Angela), Laura (Morris) Pompu (Alexander, Charles, Susan, and Joel), Glenn (Gloria) Gerbrandt (Amanda, Melissa, and Rebecca), Beth (Carl) Peters, and Scott (Colleen) Gerbrandt (Matthew, Alyse, and Kyla); his seventeen great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service for Harry Gerbrandt was held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 2:30 pm from Millar College of the Bible, Pambrun, SK with Rod Nikkel officiating. The service leader was Richard Bueckert. “He Giveth More Grace” and “Because He Lives” were sung by the congregation, with Missy McComish serving as pianist. Special music was brought by Barry Peters and Allie Pompu. Tributes were given by Harry’s daughters and grandchildren. The service was recorded and will be posted as soon as possible. The Private Family Interment Service was held prior to the Funeral Service from the Pambrun Cemetery, Pambrun, SK with Mitchell Gerbrandt, Brayden Gerbrandt, Alexander Pompu, Joel Pompu, Charles Pompu, and Matthew Gerbrandt serving as Pallbearers.
