Harvey Krein Obituary

Harvey Krein, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at the Leader & District Integrated Health Care Facility LTC, Leader, SK with his loving wife, Marjory, by his side.

Harvey Harold Krein was born on March 2, 1931 in Hallonquist, SK — the fifth child of Rudolph & Carrie Krein. Harvey went to school in Hallonquist and eventually moved to Tilley, AB where he ran a drag line for the Southern Irrigation District. He met the love of his life, Marjory Volkman, while running a business with Gus Stolson.

Harvey & Marjory were married on August 30, 1954 in Tilley, AB and together, raised three children. They eventually moved back to Saskatchewan where Harvey worked as a grain buyer for the Sask Wheat Pool. He was promoted to the head office in Regina, SK where he worked until his retirement.

Harvey was an active member in his community and was involved in the Masonic Lodge, Scouts, and the Kinsmen.  

He was known for his public speaking abilities and was the MC at many functions.

Harvey & Marjory made many happy memories at the cabin in Emma Lake and during their time spent snow birding in Arizona.

Harvey will be forever missed by his wife of 68 years, Marjory Krein; his children, Garry Krein and Donna Stevens (Kelly); his daughter-in-law, Loreen Krein; his grandchildren, Jason Krein, Teri Dart (George), Lana Caudill (Rick), Cory Stevens (Echo), Mathew Stevens (Jenn), Trina Krein (James), and Shawna Biermann; his twenty-one great-grandchildren; and by his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harvey was predeceased by his son, Rodney; his grandchildren, Stacey and Mike; his parents, Rudolph & Carrie Krein; his brothers, Emile and Alvin; his sisters, Emma and Lil; and by his parents-in-law, Joe & Dorothy Volkman.

The Funeral Service for Harvey Krein was held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 2:00 pm from First United Church, Swift Current, SK with Rev. Annette Taylor officiating. “How Great Thou Art” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” were sung by the congregation, with Karen Dockray serving as pianist. The tribute was given by Rev. Annette Taylor on behalf of the family. The ushers in the church were Philip & Edith Cote and Faye Rister. The service card can be viewed below. 

The Interment Service was held following the Funeral Service from Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with Harvey’s grandchildren, Shawna Biermann, Trina Ries, Matthew Stevens, Cory Stevens, Lana Caudill, and Teri Dart serving as Pallbearers.
