Henry Hiebert

It is with loving hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Henry Hiebert at Cypress House in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on January 24, 2025 at the age of 90 years. 

Henry was born in McMahon, Saskatchewan to Peter J and Maria Hiebert on August 16, 1934. Henry attended Falkland School in McMahon until Grade 12 at which time he attended Normal School in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. After completing school very few teaching jobs were available so Henry found employment working at a bank in Ponteix, Saskatchewan. In 1956, Henry moved to Swift Current to begin work for the City of Swift Current as a meter reader. Henry was employed for 38 years and 9 months, enjoying meeting and getting to know many of the Swift Current residents. 

On February 10, 1995, Henry retired from the City of Swift Current and began his second career as Campground Host at Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. Henry and Betty thoroughly enjoyed their 21 years of hosting campers from all over the world and country. Many times family joined them camping in Cypress Hills, which was always a much-anticipated time with family.
For many winters Henry and Betty enjoyed getting away from the cold Saskatchewan winters, spending time in Victoria, British Columbia. Henry enjoyed fishing with the family and in later years he took up golfing. In 2021, Henry was baptized at Trailview Alliance Church upon confession of his faith.

Henry is survived by Betty, his loving wife of 56 years; his four children Barbara, Harold (Michelle), Kevin and Jennifer; his twelve grandchildren Travis, Joshua (Sarah), Lucienne (Chris), Jason (Shannon), Jeremy, Brett (Sydney), Amanda (Dillon), Dakota (Chris), Isabella, Jeromy, Lisa and Nick; and his nineteen great-grandchildren.

Henry was predeceased by his parents Peter J and Maria Hiebert and his 8 siblings Jake (Mary), John (Kathleen), Peter, Tina Atkinson, Mary Miles (Reginald), Abe, Norman (Vivian) and Arthur.

The family would like to thank the Staff at Cypress House for the kind and loving care Henry received over the past 9 and a half months. 

A Memorial Service for Henry will be held at Trailview Alliance Church in Swift Current on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. with Bryan Bezanson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations made in Henry’s memory to The Salvation Army Food Bank would be appreciated.
