The family is saddened to announce the passing of Herb Dyck, age 90, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Herbert Integrated Facility – Long Term Care, Herbert, SK. Herbert J. Dyck “Herb” was born on May 19, 1934 on the family farm in the Herbert District. He grew up on the farm and attended Rockside School completing grade 8. Herb worked with his Dad on the farm and helped with the Percheron horses his Dad bred. As a young man, he started driving truck in 1957 for an oil company in Weyburn. In 1958 Herb met Clarice Heidebrecht, his first wife, and they were married on August 9, 1959 in Main Center. This union was blessed with a daughter born in Swift Current, and another daughter and a son born in Central Butte. Every summer, as the children were growing up, Herb & Clarice would take them on a weeklong trip. In October 1961 they moved to Riverhurst where Herb worked as a farmhand for the Langer family. On December 19, 1984 Clarice passed away. After being a widower for 9 years Herb married Nettie Rooker, his second wife, on November 20, 1993, and Nettie’s farm became their home where he took great pride in his yard work. Herb worked for a total of 37 years before he retired in October 1998. In his spare time Herb enjoyed a variety of activities, fishing, camping, golfing, curling, watching his son play hockey, reading Western books, playing cards, sledding, and being in the Lion’s Club in Riverhurst. Herb also enjoyed a good game of crokinole and Aggravation, but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. In January of 2003, Herb’s youngest daughter, Gail, passed away. In 2014 Herb & Nettie moved to Morse till 2020 when due to failing health they moved to Prairie Wind Estates in Herbert. In January 2022, Nettie passed away, and Herb’s son, Kelvin in May 2022. Due to worsening health following the deaths of his wife and son, Herb moved to the Herbert Integrated Health Facility at the end of May 2024 where he resided until his passing. Herb was predeceased by his first wife, Clarice, and his second wife, Nettie; his son, Kelvin; his daughter, Gail; a son-in-law, Robert Kirwan; and by all 10 of his siblings.
