Jacob Rempel Obituary

Jacob H Rempel, 86, Swift Current Saskatchewan passed away on June 28, 2026.

Jac was born on the farm in Main Centre, Saskatchewan March 30, 1940. He was the first born son of Henry and Mary Rempel, followed by his sister Alvina Irons and brother Vic Rempel. The family worked hard farming the land and tending to a variety of farm animals.

Then on July 8, 1961 Jac married his sweetheart and soulmate Gladys Evelyn Balzer. They made their first home on the farm in the Beaver Flats District where they welcomed their first sweet daughter Charlotte Fay in 1962. In 1963 they move to a farm in the Main Centre area where they were blessed with two more children Karrie Lynn in 1964 and Cameron Jacob Wayne in 1970.  In 1973 Jac and Gladys bought a dairy in Rush Lake and moved the family there. Later they moved to Waldeck in 1981, then to Swift Current in 1994. They bought an answering service business that they ran till 1999. In 2000 Jac started to work part time for Swift Current Funeral Home. In 2007 they moved to Herbert where they became involved in the community by actively caring for the nearby cemetery. Both Jac and Gladys found joy in this loving task. In 2017 they decided to move back to Swift Current.

Anyone who knew Jac Rempel knew that he was an honest and hard-working man, who loved his wife of nearly 65 years.  He loved his 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and that he loved his Lord. Jac was a quiet humble man, not given to a lot of talk. Those who knew him got to know his sense of humour and see the twinkle in his eye. Jac had a keen memory, he could pin a date on specific events. He was a great source of information.

Jac loved wood working and spent a lot of time coming up with ideas, he crafted a variety of things. Once he created a toy and entered it in a contest, it won first prize, the toy he made was pictured on the front page of the magazine. He was quietly pleased with that. His interests didn’t stop there, it extended to fine cabinetry and was ever working on clever solutions to solve a problem.

Jac also loved horses and during the family’s time on the dairy acquired two special breeds, an Arabian horse and a Morgan horse along with others.

Jac will be greatly missed by all who know him.
