Jacob “Jake” V. Klassen, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at the Meadows – House 16, Swift Current, SK.
Jake was predeceased by his mother, Sarah (Funk) Klassen in 1940 and his father, Jacob Klassen, in 1962.
On his mother’s side, Jake will be lovingly remembered by his cousin, Alice (Toronto, ON); and the children of cousins, Reginald, Randall, Oral, Tim, David, Brad, and Lisa; and by his extended family and numerous friends.
On his dad’s side, his father had three siblings whom he was predeceased by, Isaac, Anne, and Justine; Isaac’s children include, Isaac, Agenatha, and Susan, whom he is predeceased by, and Justine, Cornelius, Liz, and Anne. These are his cousins from his Uncle Isaac.
Grandpa Klassen went on to marry Agenatha Rempel. She had four children from a previous marriage, and they became like aunts and uncles to Jake. One of these children was George Klassen, and his children were like close cousins to Jake, even though they were not blood relatives.
Jacob “Jake” Victor Klassen was born on June 4, 1926 to Jacob & Sarah Klassen in Schoenfeld, SK. Jake lived on the farm in Schoenfeld with his family until 1954, when he and his father moved to a farm south of Webb, SK and they farmed together until his father’s passing in 1962. Farming alone became too difficult, so in the late 80’s Jake sold the farm and retired to Swift Current, where he lived until his passing. In his retirement years, Jake enjoyed having company over and visiting with cousins and friends.
Faith was incredibly important to Jake. His favorite Scriptures were John 3:16 and Psalm 23. His favorite hymns were “Amazing Grace,” “Just as I Am,” and “It is Well with My Soul.”
Jake will be remembered as one of the kindest and grandest gentlemen of all time. He will be missed.
Special thanks to John & Helen Friesen and Jake & Agnes Fehr for their kindness and time spent with Jake during his life. And thank you to the staff at the Meadows for their attention and kindness to Jake.
