Jake Hildebrandt Obituary

Jacob “Jake” Hildebrandt, age 85, of Blumenhof, SK passed away peacefully  on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Cypress House in Swift Current, SK.

Jake was born in Blumenhof on June 13, 1935 to Isaac & Mary Hildebrandt and grew up with his siblings on the family farm. He loved the farm, his family, and enjoyed his neighborhood friends. Jake attended Blumenhof School and completed Grade 9. Jake started farming at an early age with his Dad and brothers. He worked hard at seeding the crops and bringing in the harvest. He enjoyed all aspects of farming and continued to farm as long as his health would allow.

He had a great interest in farm equipment and enjoyed attending farm shows with his brothers and nephews. Jake was very skilled at repairing equipment and was mechanically inclined. When machinery would break down, he was sure to find a way to fix it! He was very organized and tidy in everything he owned and worked at. He had a gift of helping others and putting their needs before his own, he had a very kind heart.

Jake looked forward to spring every year to put in a large garden. He spent many hours working tending it — keeping out the weeds and producing a good crop of vegetables, which he was always ready to share with others! Jake was also meticulous with his yard work — mowing and keeping his hedges trimmed, he enjoyed the outdoor work and taking good care of his yard.

Jake faithfully attended Blumenhof Church most of his life and later on attended Fairview Bible Church in Swift Current. He was always actively involved in church and very much enjoyed the fellowship and friendships of the people there. He liked to visit and take time for others. Throughout his life, Jake liked to spend time with his nephews and nieces, and later on his great-nephews and nieces — all of them were special to him. Jake was an excellent caregiver, he looked after his parents in their later years and spent time with all of his siblings.  Jake will be dearly missed by his family.

Jake is survived by his sister-in-law, Anne Hildebrandt; his nephews and nieces; and by his great-nephews and nieces.

Jake was predeceased by his parents, Isaac & Mary Hildebrandt; his brothers, Henry Hildebrandt, John Hildebrandt, and Peter Hildebrandt; his sister, Alma Reinheimer; his brother-in-law, Wayne Reinheimer; his sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hildebrandt and Mary Hildebrandt; and by his nephew-in-law, George McAuley.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Cypress House for their excellent care and compassion.

The Private Family Graveside Service for Jacob “Jake” Hildebrandt was held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:00 pm from Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with Jake’s nephew, Pastor Frank Ward, officiating.
