Joan Adams

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joan Adams, age 69, announce her passing on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK. Joan Pauline Adams was born December 24, 1952 in Leader, SK to Cliff & Mabel Adams — the oldest of three children.

Joan attended school in Portreeve, SK and Abbey, SK then continued her education at SAIT in Calgary, AB. She began her career with Pioneer Co-op working in Cabri, SK, Shaunavon, SK, and Swift Current.  In 1982, she decided to take the Local Government Administration course and began her 25+ years with School Divisions as a Secretary Treasurer.

Joan was not a person to stay in one place for too long — she loved the excitement of new places and   made many dear friends along the way. She would be the first to be there if anyone needed her through good or bad. Anyone that was a part of her life knew she was someone you could always count on.

Joan is survived by her sister, Jackie; her brother, Doug (Dixie); her nieces, Kari (Dave) and Kim; her great-nieces, Reina, Camille, and Elise; her faithful puppies, Sam and Memo; and by many friends. 

Joan was predeceased by her dad in 2002 and mom in 2015.

A Private Family Service will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers and for those wishing, donations made to the Swift Current SPCA would be appreciated by the family.

My Sister, My Friend

I know you knew I loved you

It breaks my heart in two

Yes, you were my sister

But more than that you knew

You loved me unconditionally

You helped me learn and grow

And if I needed anything

I knew just where to go

We’ve laughed and cried together

Through good times and in bad

And we both know the past few years

Have had many days of sad

God took you home to Heaven

Free from pain and strife

I know we’ll meet again one day

In a different time and life.
